We have received Influenza Vaccine from the State VFC program. The vaccine is available for children from 6 months to 18 years of age who are on Medicaid.
We have influenza vaccine available for all age groups. At this time, we still do not have VFC influenza vaccine for patients who are on Medicaid. We are expecting to receive VFC influenza vaccine soon.
As you may have seen in the news, Flu Mist will not be available for this flu season in the United States. Everyone will be receiving flu shot this year. Sorry Kids!!!
As a reminder, influenza vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older. Children 8 years of age or younger who have never received influenza vaccine in the past should receive 2 doses of influenza vaccine 4 weeks apart.
We are pleased to announce that a fifth pediatrician is joining our practice. Dr. Megan Dory will join us on Monday, August 1. She earned her M.D. from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency and internship, and a fellowship in sports medicine, at Oregon Health & Science University. She is board certified in pediatrics and has a Certificate of Additional Qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Dory and her husband both grew up in the Reno area. They recently moved back to the community, along with their miniature schnauzer, Rosie. Dr. Dory, who is a passionate advocate for the health benefits of an active lifestyle, can often be found taking advantage of Reno’s great outdoors biking, running, skiing, golfing and hiking.
Dr. Dory was formerly a patient in this practice and so, we are especially proud to have her join us as a physician. Expanding our practice will help us meet the growing need for pediatric services in the Reno area and provide more appointment opportunities for existing patients. We look forward to Dr. Dory bringing her passion and expertise to our practice.
We are out of all Influenza Vaccine. We will not be receiving any further Influenza Vaccine for this flu season
We are out of Flu Mist. We do not anticipate receiving any further Flu Mist.
We have flu shots available for all age groups. If your child requires a second flu vaccine to complete the two shots, 4 weeks apart, for children under 9 years old, the series will be completed using flu shot.
Flu Mist continues to be unavailable from the manufacturer. There is no estimate from our supplier as to when Flu Mist will become available.
Since we are unsure when Flu Mist will become available, we have the “flu shot” for children three years old and older. We are recommending the shot since it is available.
We still have “flu shot” for children 6 months old to 3 years old.
Please call for a “shot only” appointment if you wish to get Influenza Vaccine for your child.
We are presently out of Flu Mist. As you may have heard, there is problem with the manufacturer of Flu Mist in shipping their vaccine. We are not sure when we will receive another shipment. We expect to hear from our supplier of vaccines the middle of next week. We will keep you informed.
We now have all Influenza Vaccines available, including the flu shot for children 3 years and older.
As a reminder if your child is 8 years of age or younger and never had flu vaccine in the past, your child should receive 2 doses of flu vaccine 4 weeks apart to maximize the effectiveness of the vaccine. It is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and older should receive flu vaccine.
If you are interested in your child receiving flu vaccine, please call the office for a “shot only” appointment.
We have Flu Mist available for children 2 years of age and older and who do not have a contraindication to receiving a live viral vaccine.
We also have influenza vaccine shot for children 3 years of age and older, and the child has a contraindication to the Flu Mist and should receive the flu shot.
We still have not received our influenza flu shot for children between 6 months of age to 3 years of age. We will keep you posted on the influenza shot for children between 6 months to 3 years old. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Just as a reminder, if your child is 8 years of age or younger and has never received flu vaccine in the past, the child should receive 2 doses of flu vaccine 4 weeks apart. If your child is in this age range and has never received influenza vaccine, please remind us.
Flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older.
